About Me

Howdy All! My name is Peter and I am a writer from a town called Gravesend which is in North Kent just outside of London in the United Kingdom. Although I’ve been writing since my very early twenties it has only been the last few years (Since about 2016) that I’ve really pushed myself to be a working writer. I write Horror mainly, but also enjoy working in Science Fiction and Post Apocalyptic worlds. I especially love merging all three. I’ve got so many tales to tell and I’m itching to tell them!

I’m influenced from various elements. Everything from Red Dwarf to RoboCop. From The Warriors to Saw. Growing up I’d read the Commando comics and in my late teens I discovered Tom Clancy and Kathy Reichs. Then I fell in Dan Abnett’s Gaunt’s Ghosts series. Through podcasting I discovered Escape Pod which then sent me down a path that led to Scott Sigler, Mur Lafferty and J.C. Hutchins. I found podcasts like The Dead Robots Society and Armand Rosamilia’s podcasts. The Horror Show With Brian Keene was especially influential.

By day I work in a supermarket, I started there in April 2020. Before that I was a car cleaner/dogsbody at various second hand car sales for twenty years. Although I learnt a lot and made some great friends I was never really there. I should have left a few years into it but never had the confidence to do so. This in part lead to worsening mental health over those years but after some ups and downs I’ve accepted that I do have mental health issues and I’m working on improving that side of my life. Writing helps that, I’m much more settled and comfortable in myself when I’m being productive.

“Writing a book is a horrible, exhausting struggle, like a long bout with some painful illness. One would never undertake such a thing if one were not driven on by some demon whom one can neither resist nor understand.” – George Orwell

Below are some of my top fives:

  1. The Forever War by Joe Haldeman
  2. 1984 by George Orwell
  3. Necropolis by Dan Abnett
  4. Earthcore by Scott Sigler
  5. Silent Dawn by CL Raven
  1. Terminator 2: Judgement Day
  2. Event Horizon
  3. Pandorum
  4. Transformers: The Movie (1986)
  5. Avengers Infinity War & Endgame
  1. Lacuna Coil
  2. Lesbian Bed Death
  3. Linkin Park
  4. Icon For Hire
  5. Butcher Babies

Salted Popcorn is heavenly. Pizza is delicious, Italian food in general is pretty darn good. Pepsi Max and Monster are soft drinks of choice. But I drink a lot of water/squash as well (gotta stay hydrated!). Brussels are essentially Satan’s rectal warts, and fried onions ain’t much better!

  2. Hey there! While listening to the podcast you posted on my blog, it has made me realize that I don’t explore much in the more professional, published world of writing. If you ever come across an interesting interview or post like this one, feel free to pass it along to me! Or hey, maybe even a page or post on your blog with links to share. I’m sure others as well as myself would be interested in them. 🙂

  3. Hi Aly, I’ve found istening to those podcasts is really insightful and has helped me in how i look at the enitre process of the writing game. It’s a good idea to talk about them and link them here. I hadnt really thought about doing that so thanks, I listen to a lot of podcasts so I could no doubt come up with a couple more lol 🙂
