I watched this film last night and was really blown away by it. I really enjoyed Moon which the director, Duncan Jones also made so I was eager to see what he did with this film. I’ve never really been blown away with Jake Gyllenhaal in the past. He’s a good actor and I especially enjoyed Jarhead, so going into this I was looking forward to seeing Jones’ work but A little nervous about how Gyllenhaal would do in the film, I was very impressed. He made me care for what choices he made. This is the first film where I’ve seen Vera Farmiga and she held the screen well, as for Jeffrey Wright, well I like him from the Bond films and he throws in a fine performance here, A little irritating at times though which worked for the film.
As for the story line itself it is a real mind bender with trying to figure out what happens and how Gyllenhaal’s character struggles with how he ended up where he is and how he got there.
I know I’m not one for going into real detail when I’m talking about A book and films etc. but I know what I like and I really enjoyed this as it was challenging. It kept my attention and my brain spinning, especially with the ending. CHeck it out, it’s a properly thought through film and I truely cannot wait until I see what Duncan Jones does next.
