Making A Little Progress

I finally finished the second draft of Earth, After Liberation this week, There’s a lot of work to do to pull it up to par but I’m liking the overall story. It’s a little ropey at the moment which I’m putting down to it being a NaNoWriMo story. There’s a lot of repetition in it and its a little disjointed, but a little work and hopefully it’ll be where I want it. I’m going to print it out and do a major red penning on it and do the re-writes that are needed and then get to work on the third draft.

Next though I’m going to wrap up one of the short stories that I have crying out for attention (Okay its more like it’s bashing me about the brains) but that is going to be the overriding theme of the year for me, I have a lot of shorter pieces that just need some editing and then off to my (Awesome) Beta readers for their notes. Project Apollo isย a bit more like Earth, After Liberation in that it needs a lot of work to bring it up to where Owen and I want it.

And finally The Residents, which is a collaboration with Chrystalyn Hope (http://thefutureofhope.wordpress.com/) is rolling ๐Ÿ™‚ย  We’ve had a couple of Skype brainstorming sessions which have really brought the story to life. It’s coming together and ย the more we discus it the more exciting it gets ๐Ÿ™‚

No More Early Nights

Last night I was feeling a little more tired then normal, so I thought I’d get an early night. Waking up this morning I am feeling shattered! So now more early nights for me, that aside me and I got Owens notes back on my Project Apollo notes and I’ve sent back my thoughts on his notes. Hopefully we’ll be back writing the story very soon.

I think I’ve mentioned that I have started planning my NaNoWriMo story, so far I have a list of notes and an idea of the layout. As well as word count and a little planning of the first chapter I have not got much done. Neither of the two main characters are named yet but I have them pretty well thought through. I’m setting this one in my home town so location I know very well. This and Project Apollo are at the front of my mind at the moment. This new project is Project Sheppard.

I Need to get cracking on one or the other very soon.

Reading wise I started His Only Star by Christopher Stocking last night. It’s started off well and I’m looking forward to being able to get stuck into it tonight ๐Ÿ™‚ I’m also listening to the We’re Alive podcast. This is a zombie apocalypse story in a radio drama format. Some of the content of this show is a little annoying, there are plenty of cliches and some of the characters are a little more annoying then I’m normally tolerant of, but its a very good story and I love some of the things the creators have thought about. This is the second time I am listening to this one, series 4 is out in the next few months. I’m looking forward to it ๐Ÿ™‚
