Tonights Summery

I got just shy of a thousand words written tonight so I’m quite happy with that, especially as I got home a little later and I went round to a friends to help move a little furniture.  I gave myself an hour and a half with only a little music (Red Hot Chilli Peppers) to distract me.  Normally I would get about a thousand words done there easily but as I mentioned in an earlier post this is a little different as I am working from a loose plan and not just from what is in my head.  I am a little surprised that I am finding this a little more difficult than I had expected but I’m enjoying the challenge.  Not only is it GREAT to finally be able to get stuck into a universe that me and Owen have been talking about for years but I’m having to learn a whole new set of skills as I’m doing it.

I wont get any writing done tomorrow as I’m having dinner with a friend but come Thursday I’ll be looking to hit about fifteen hundred words 🙂

NaNoWriMo starts on Tuesday and I am only just about to start preparing for my 50,000 words once I’ve posted this! I know, I know I should have done a bucket load of research for this but if truth be told I have only just decided what I’m going to write and I’ve found that there are times when I can write ‘on-the-fly’ if you will.  I have a few plot points in my head that I think will aid my efforts and as since I decided to go with this idea a picture of it is becoming clearer and hopefully I’ll be able to crack on with this.  If I am honest I don’t think that I will hit the 50,000 word target by December 1st. I’ve got A few things on this month (Red Hot Chilli Peppers at the O2) but I am still going to go for it big time.

I’ve got stories in my head, I have these little ideas and I write them down in A little notebook and some of these ideas grow into something bigger.  I just need to get writing, to get A word count target hit every day.  I’m hoping this really gets me into that habit.  In a good evening (No TV, No Facebook, No Twitter, No Google+ etc) then I can easily hit 1600 words.  On my best day I have written 3600 words so I know that I can do it.  I just have to find my discipline, I love writing and I know I can knock out some pretty good things when I want to, so here I go! 🙂

If I had written this post A couple of hours ago then I would have said I was going to give it A damn good try, but after reading Shelli Johnson’s blog post today ( ) I am determined to never say Try again.

Wish me luck and If you are doing NaNoWriMo then good luck too 🙂
