Over Filling The Story

As I’m working on my current WIP I am thinking of future stories that I want to write as well. One of the areas that I want to play in is the zombie world. I know what you’re thinking, everyone’s doing it, but I write the stories that I want to write. At the moment I am still in the infancy of my writing and I believe there is nothing wrong with that. So when i get around to it I will be writing about Zombies 😀

This brings me onto over filling a story. As I’ve been thinking about what I would like to do with Zombies I have conflicting ideas. Part of me wants to do the whole survivor thing like in The Walking Dead, another part of me wants to write something like Dawn Of The Dead and another part of me wants to write something like Zombieland.  As well as a few other ideas that are rambling around in my head. Now one of the dilemmas that I have been facing is how I’m going to squeeze all of this into one story, and I came to conclusion that I wont put them all into the same story or even multiple stories in the same universe. I am going to separate these ideas and see which ones I can work into a cohesive story. This is something that has cropped up with the WIP, I have lots of ideas for how to end it because I always thought the ending was weak but I believe that what I have already is good enough and works very well with the rest of the story.

Hey guys and gals, I just wanted to give a shout out to a book that I have absolutely fallen in love with.  Sanctuary: Surviving The Zombie Apocalypse by Joshua Jared Scott.

Here’s the link to its Podiobooks site.  This is where I found it via iTunes and I was really swept away with the story.  Its, well about survivors after zombies have swept across the planet.  The lead character Jacob tells his story of how his surviving and all the little things along the way. At first I thought this may be a watered down story, and there would not be anything extreme in it, but there are times when it does get beyond dark.  So if you are a little screamish, this may not be for you.  It has a slow and steady pace with good points of tension throughout the story and it never holds back from addressing the realities of societies downfall.

On a personal note I love the voice Joshua Jared Scott has and it’s one that I found especially easy to listen too.  This has shot to the top of my ‘To-buy’ list once I have some free cashflow.

A Challenging Week Ahead

This next coming week is going to be an interesting I think.  I’m taking my Grandad up to spend the week with his sister so that will take about four hours or so, so I’m not expecting to get a lot of words written today, but despite that I am setting myself a 10,000 word target to hit by this time next week (I need my head examined) This means that I am going to need to write about 2000 words a day so I am going to be writing pretty much every waking moment that I am not working, eating or sleeping.  So this is where you guys can help, If you see me really active on Twitter and Facebook tell me to get writing!  I’d appreciate it 🙂

Although I wont have much time today I’d still like to get a good start when I get back this afternoon, 1000 words would be good, and If I hit the 10k target then we’ll be close to having the 2nd draft completed.

I’m closing in on my 100th post here as well which I am quite chuffed about if I’m honest and I’m already working on that post.

I was around a good friends house last night and we watched The Crazies and I’ve got to say that I really enjoyed it.  It was not quite a zombie film, I guess it’s more of a breakout film, but it had a good story with a really good cast, its been added to my ‘DVD’s to buy’ list.  As I was watching it I thought to myself that I really want to write a zombie story.  Another story to create, but I’ve got others to write before then.
