Interruptions

There are times that no matter how hard that we try we get interrupted when we’re trying to write. We try and find some sanctuary where we can fall into the worlds that we are creating, but when the muse takes hold of us a crowded coffee house or a bustling office or even at home there is nothing that will tear us away from our little world, but sometimes there are little things that do take a little of our attention away. During a lunch break the ability to write and eat is something that needs practice or when others ask us a question we need to have the concentration to go back and carry on from where we left off. Sometimes though the interruptions are just too big and it destroys the flow which we were getting into. That is exactly what happened to me today. I was aiming to hit 500 words during my lunch which I know I can do but one interruption flowed into a bigger interruption. So I’ll have another bash at this tomorrow lunch time and hit that 500 words which will make Sundays epic 5200 word target not quite so daunting. Im back off to work so have fun everybody πŸ™‚

  1. I understand you perfectly well. I haven’t been able to write much this week, due to lots of different interruptions, and then, when I find the time, I discover that what I had in mind is gone. It is annoying and frustrating some times, but other times I think “well, if I forgot about it so easily, maybe it wasn’t so good”. I know, it sounds silly, but at least it makes me feel better πŸ˜› Enjoy at work.

    • I hate that too, but I see your point about it maybe not being very good. I’m lucky in this case as I’ve got a paper copy of the bones of the story I’m working on. πŸ™‚
