I’ve not blogged as much as I was planning to at the weekend, simply because I’ve not been especially well this last week. I’m feeling a little better now, but I have been writing on The Space Watch rewrite. I’ve been hitting a minimum of three hundred words a day on it. I would have liked to have increased the average a little more but with being unwell and work I just wasn’t able to manage it.
I didn’t like the start I got with this rewrite, it felt too emotionless so I came at it from a slightly different angle and it’s felt a thousand times better and it’s been quite easy to write. I’ve already deviated from the outline Owen and I have agreed on, but I’m of the mindset that if we can’t adapt as we go then the story is going to suffer and I’m not sure if that’s who I am as a writer. I like being able to feel my way through the story and change the direction as I’m going. The core of the story will stay the same but how we end up there may take a few different paths and be seen from characters who we haven’t necessarily expected to see their view of what’s happening in the story. It’s been fun already and I’ve not even really gotten stuck into it yet.
As for last years NaNoWriMo story, I’m probably going to spend time on that on Sunday and try and make some good progress with that. I’ll see if that works; during the week working on The Space Watch rewrite, then on Sundays I’ll be working on that NaNoWriMo piece. Let’s see if that works.
Reading wise, I’m really slacking. I’ve not picked up Wool in far too long. It’s not that I’m not enjoying the story, I am, but I just don’t seem to have the energy to get stuck in at the moment. I am making good progress with Wilds End, that one I’m really falling in love with. Audio wise, I’m well over a third done with No Worse Enemy, but I need to get really stuck into it again.
Right, I’m shutting down for the night, now. I’m getting back into the flow and hopefully I can get back up to where I was a few months ago, and then pass that and up my productivity.
