The last few weeks I’ve been trying to set out goals for each week. Nothing too heavy, simple things like five blog posts that week, if I have a day off then spend more time writing. I’ll make mini deadlines as well. So it’ll be like; red pen this short story, or do an hour of bible building. Or clear some emails….don’t ask!

I’m not breaking down my days in great detail. If I’m working I’ll make a note of the time, but should really put an hour either side to cover travel time. If I’ve got my daughter I’ll just cross through that time. The rest of the time I tend to leave it a little more vague. I’ll note that I’ll write during a break at work, or I’ll write for an hour after work. Or write a blog post, maybe gaming. I’ve also out in that I’ll watch a movie after writing.
This is something I’ve tried before, to little success. Either I try and do thing too detailed, put too much in, and set larger, long term goals. I’ve not tried this way of organising before, and I’m not gonna give up as quickly as I have done in the past. I’m not going to let myself get demoralised if I’m not ticking bits off. I’ve been doing this for almost four weeks now and I don’t think I’ve had a week where I’ve stuck to it or knocked off fifty percent of my to-do list. It’s habit, if I can get into a routine of checking the book each day, ticking bits off when I do them, then I think it’s something that will help.
Time will tell!
