Good Morning, 7th January 2025

Howdy folks! How are we all doing this morning?

Yesterday turned out to be a decent day, topping out at about two and a half hours of writing give or take a minute or two. I got to the halfway point in reading through Penal Earth: Book One for the bible, and wrapped up the rewrite of the first chapter of book two. I’ve got the introduction for a main character rewritten as well as I feel what I already have is a little soulless.

The Penal earth short story that I’ve been working on was also red-penned. Not too may grammar issues that I can see, but there is one bit right smack bam in the middle of the story where it feels a little disjointed, and its made me realise the story is lacking some edge in that section. I’ve started writing that part to insert it, but I think I was too much in the mindset of the Duncan character from the main story and I need to scale back that element of it when I type it up. the short story is based around a character called Kellan, and he’s very different to Duncan so a large part of what I wrote for Kellan yesterday just does not fit the character. It should be easy enough to edit as I type up the handwritten draft.

Last night I watched Ready Or Not on Netflix, and damn that was a good movie. It had some good gore, most of which felt quite authentic and not over the top. Like it felt real in most cases. The acting was pretty good, Samara Weaving is a leading lady, she’s got that charm and charisma as well as the acting chops where she leads a film with great skill. The rest of the cast were very good as well, even minor roles were well acted. There was a couple of plot points that I found a little predictable, but not entirely. There was just a little doubt there, which is down to the actors, writers, and directors being on their game. Definitely a movie I’d recommend.

To today, I’m going to work on Penal Earth two and the bible. If I can make good progress with those two by about one-thirty then I’m be pretty happy.

Rock on, folks!
