Just A Quickie

Evening all, I realised I hadn’t updated for the last couple of days and just wanted to write a quick post to share what’s been going on.

The last two days I’ve written 600 words on my vampire collection. I’ve stopped working on the AVG rewrite for the moment as I’m not feeling it. I’m at the point where I think it’s not the right time for this story yet. I think I need to get a bit more experience to make it work in the way I’m seeing it in my head; but we’ll see. The vampire stuff is really exciting me at the moment so I’m going to stick to that for that reason.

As I’m writing stories for the second book I’m re-reading the first book to just remind myself of a few details, as well.

That’s it for now, as I said its a quick post.

🙂

2000 Word Day

I’ve had a pretty good day with the writing, breaking the 2000 word barrier for the first time since April. I managed 927 on the AVG rewrite and 1245 (longhand) on the vampire short story I’ve been working on.

I’ve just looked through my stats as I was looking for my last 2000 word day and I was more than a little shocked to see how long its been since I did write this many words in a day. Although I’m sensible enough to know that with doing a full time job it can be hard to do a 1000 words a day let alone double that but I should be doing it more often than I am. I think some my problems with writing this year have been because I’m working on stories which are not exciting me and I’ve got to stop working on them when it starts feeling like that and move onto something that is capturing my attention. I can always go back to something and try to see why I’ve lost interest, I’ve got more than enough ideas to work on to be able to do that.

A highlight of today has been completing the first draft of the first vampire story from book two of my vampire universe, yes I know book one still needs Beta edits done but I’d like to be in a position where I can release two or three of these books in a space of a few months; so I’m no too worried about getting the changes done just yet. I’m also waiting for a Beta reader’s notes on the first book and I’m keen to get her thoughts on it as she’s got a very good eye for editing and so forth.

This coming week I’ve got to try and make some time to work on some of mine and Owen’s work as he’ll need the treatments so he can add his notes.

For now though, I’m going to kick back and enjoy the rest of my Sunday 🙂

1000 Word Day!

I know it might seem a little odd to be getting excited by writing a thousand words in a day, but it’s been a rare occurrence for me of late and it feels a little like I’ve broken a hurdle tonight.

I’ve been itching to get stuck into some serious writing for a few days now, but I’ve been a little under the weather and when I’m ill I just like to get in bed and binge TV shows or movies. Especially if I’m well enough to still be able to go to work (which I almost always am), but today I’ve felt a little more myself than I have done for the last week or so, and despite feeling quite rough when I got home I persisted and got stuck into typing up a little more of the AVG rewrite. For the amount of time my bottom was in the chair I didn’t really do much (800 or so words this evening, 248 during my lunch break) but what I’m planning to do is each night try to beat my previous days count.

That said though, I have dropped my daily minimum to just 250 words. That’s not a lot, but it’s easily achieved and hopefully that’s enough to get me rolling and stuck into what I’m working on, which may mean I easily do more than that a day, but we’ll see.

I’m working on a vampire story at the moment as well but that’ll be my secondary project. AVG is my primary one, although I must try and stick to my original draft a little more. So far I’ve barely stuck to it at all. But that’s for tomorrow. Now I’m gonna watch a movie 🙂
