Research is one of the areas that I really need to be improving my skills in. I have never been one to easily sit down and really dig into A subject that I need to help my writing. When I have given in and actually began some research I did find that it helped more than I could have imagined. Just that little bit of research opened up an image in my mind of part of the novel and I hope will make it easier when I write the parts where the research is focused on.
I struggle with research because I never know where to start, and because of this I just don’t do it! Which is counter productive to say the least. I can’t really get into writing, or even planning (which I suck at too, but that’s another blog post) I was swapping messages with another writer, Tom Blubaugh http://nightofthecossack.com/ and he said simply that with the internet has made research so much simpler, and that is what I need to take advantage off. I’m one of those cautious paranoid people who don’t really trust the internet (I’m getting Better!) which I think holds me back a little from really using it to its full advantage. So this week I am going to put A fair bit of my writing aside and really try to get over this daft little p[phobia. I know where I’m starting and hopefully it’ll escalate from there and I get some damn good information discovered.
If you are only depending on Wikipedia then it can be sketchy, but I can usually find some sites on line that back up what Wiki. says.
Great post~

I tend to start with Wiki, but only use it as a jumping off point. One of my early blogs was about Dyspraxia and that was the first thing that i really researched further then wiki. 🙂
