In about half an hour I’ll be off down to see Owen to pick up the hard copy of one of our stories that we’re about to re-write. I feel like I’m ready to write this story now so I cant wait to read it through and make my notes before re-writing it. This leads me to wanting to talk about how we do this. For me I’m going to change how I normally do this. When I’ve done this before I would make my notes on the first read through. The big downside to his was that as I was reading I’d make a note questioning a particular sentence but then I’d read the next sentence and realise that it’s explained. So what I’m going to do this time is read it before I start making notes, I may even read it twice before I get cracking with it. I think this will let the story grow even better than it has already. At the moment it is 20,000 words give or take. When I started on my draft of this I though it would hit about 30,000 and with some of the details and world building that I would like to put in I think it could get to at least 25,000 words. One of the major plot holes that the story had I think I’ve solved yesterday and I came up with a couple of other little details that I think will help as well. Now all I have to do is get it, read it and then get writing but its the weekend so I’m off to a friend’s house tonight and then out with my girlfriend tomorrow so not much writing will get done but some R&R is needed.
I hope that you all have a good weekend 🙂
I have a simillar problem on read throughs but I realised it was better to have a read through and take some more general notes, then go back for some line edits later. It feels more painful at first but possibly better in the long run.

Hi Elliot. That is something i was thinking about doing but i was not sure how effective it would be but it sounds like you get along well with it so I’ll give it a go myself 🙂
