NaNoWriMo 2015: Day Five

Yesterday I wrote 618 words, which is obviously well short of the daily minimu but I’m at 11,267 words overall so I’m not behind. I’m not expecting to get to the minimum today either as I’ve got plans with friends tonight.

But the reason why I didn’t write last night was really simple, I’m tired. I work a long week at my day job and it’s been a good few months since I’ve had any time off.  I do have next week off, so I’m very confident of not dropping behind too far.

I’m also having some doubts about the story but after thinking about it yesterday and talking out a couple of ideas with Chrystalyn I’ve got some very good ideas to play with.

This is my fifth year doing NaNo, and I feel like I’ve got a fair bit of experience in it now and I feel like it’s okay to have a day or two off early on to take a breather. Having ‘won’ it last year with a good week to spare, I know I can do it again but I also know NaNoWriMo isn’t about getting 50,000 words written in a month. It’s about writing everyday without going back and rewriting  a chapter until perfection.

If you need a day off, take it. It’ll not only rest you but it’ll also give the creative part of your brain a chance to recharge as well.

If you’d like toad me as a Buddy on the NaNoWriMo site my handle is PeterJReaper. There are also links to my Facebook and Twitter profiles on the right hand side of the screen.

Have a good day everyone and if I’m not back on here tonight, I’ll do another morning post.

(I’ve not got time to proof read this post, so feel free to point out the typos 😉 )
