House On Eden is about a team of ghost hunting YouTubers who venture into a location no one has ghosted hunted in before, which two of the three people are not part of the plan.
Weird events start happening shortly after they find this house which despite seemingly being abandoned is immaculately clean.
They get set up, and it all goes to hell.
This is a movie by YouTubers Call Me Kris, Celina Spookeybooc and Jay, who I know mainly as Kris’ editor. I am a fan of Call Me Kris, I like her content and as such I’m probably a little biased, but I really liked this movie. The plot is quite straightforward, and works well with the characters at the heart of it. To a degree they’re playing themselves, but also not really. Which I know doesn’t make sense but I doubt Kris Collins is that much of a bitch ti work with.
The way suspense is built is subtly done and even though it’s a found footage movie that’s not off putting, most of the time I forgot that was the case.
There is some humour sprinkled in the earlier scenes, and I particularly liked Jay’s humour.
I didn’t see the ending coming, that was an interesting way to bring it to its conclusion, and the way they interspersed scenes broke up what might have felt dragged out. This is something that’s done throughout; almost static scenes which build the tension.
I really enjoyed this movie, I didn’t really know what it to expect and I’m glad I’d not seen lots of trailers and so on for it.
A good start to spooky season.
