I finished reading Joe Haldeman’s ‘An accidental Time Machine’ on Wednesday night. I enjoyed this story. It follows one man through time after he accidentally discovers A time machine. Each jump he makes takes him further in time and farther in distance away from his starting point. This is A interesting view on how earth and mankind may evolve and having not widely read Haldeman yet it’s an impressive change from the other four novels of his that I have read.
I’ve started on Scott Sigler’s ‘The Starter’ now and i have high expectations for this novel which is the next chapter in the story of Quentin Barnes and the Ionath Krakens. The first novel in the series ‘The Rookie’ was an amazing read and I’m looking forward to this one.
I brought Phillip K. Dick’s ‘Do Androids Dream Of Electronic Sheep’ I feel a little inadequate at times when I listen to people like Tony C Smith on StarShipSofa when he’s talking about the sci-fi greats like Dick, Asimov and so on. So I’ve made it a bit of a mission of mine in the next couple of years to start reading works by the people who are said to have been the ‘greats.’ I will decide myself on whether I like these works, but I feel I should at least get a taste of these genre defining writers.
