I was talking to an old friend, her boyfriend and my writing partner last night and we got round to writing and as we were talking I realised that I don’t need to have sent out my first submission by the end of the year which was a target of mine.

Firstly the novel re-write hasn’t even started yet so that’s a definite no go. I’ve got about ten short stories finished but few are strong enough to publish (aside from on here) and the ones which are strong enough are part of a single universe which Isnt ready to be seen by the world. It’s not worth rushing anything just to say ‘ha! Got my first rejection letter!’ when I send something out I want it to be as strong as possible.

I also need to get some discipline. If I log into Facebook and Twitter and have TV on then I can write about 200 words a night. If I shut myself off from all that I can write 2000 words a night! I know what number I prefer. So after tomorrow night (cinema) I will attempt to give myself 2 hours of writing or research each night.

Actions do speak louder then words so I’ve got to shut ip and get on with achieving my dream.
