Today’s Update 17/07/12

Still no fiction written but I had a couple little ideas today that I quickly scribbled down and I’m going to have a play with when I’m feeling better, it’s odd how a little dental issue really knocks me off my game.  Are you like that?  Anyway, I’m going to try some sort of brain storm exercise and see where it takes me.  The other idea, well I think I might have to have a little natter (chat) with Owen about that one.  I reckon he may like the idea 😉

I’ve been listening to a lot of the Dead Robots Society recently, yes the PC is still not repaired, and I’ve got to say after not be too sure I am now beginning to really love this podcast.  If you get a minute go and check the show out @ http://deadrobotssociety.com/

One thing that I really need to do is get back reading, that like everything else has fallen by the wayside the last few days.  I was just getting into Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury so I’d like to get rolling again, but right now I’m getting a tad tired so I’m off to bed 🙂

  1. Pretty much any physical ailment knocks me out of my writing game. I suppose it’s my brain’s way of saying “HEY. ALL IS NOT WELL WITH YOUR BODY. SIT DOWN AND HEAL NAOKTHX.” So I do, even if I don’t want to. Sometimes it actually leads to me getting some great story ideas since I’m allowing my mind to rest and wander where ever it pleases. 🙂

Also, glad you’re enjoying the podcast! I’m totally not biased as to how awesome it is, or anything. >.>

    • Hi Mandray, You are more successful then me then because when I’m ill like I was it really did knock me out of it. I was literally going to work and then getting home and crawling into bed until it was time to work again.

And I do love the show. At first I was not to sure about it but once I listened to a couple of episodes I was sold on it. I am currently working my way backwards from all the old shows. I’m on ep. 135 at the moment 🙂

      • Ah, don’t beat yourself up too much. 🙂 I also have my inherently lazy nature to battle, which tells me to play video games and take naps instead of work on my novel(s). But I am slowly training myself out of these bad habits. Even so, when the body needs rest, the body needs rest! Don’t try and push yourself too hard. Feeling guilty about something is never good. 🙂 You’ll get where you need to be, don’t worry.

Ah, I wish I had the time to go through all the old podcasts. I lost touch with it for quite awhile due to my work situation at the time, so there’s this big chunk of episodes I haven’t heard. Regardless, I’m glad you find them amusing. 🙂 I absolutely loved being part of the podcast. We had so much fun.

        • A fellow writer said to me at the weekend that it only takes three weeks for us humans to get a habit, so I’m trying to write each day for at least that long then hopefully itll be hard wired into my head lol.

I think the Dead Robots has a really good vibe to it. it’s easy to listen to because its entertaining as well as being infromative 🙂

          • Ooh, I didn’t know that about habits being established after three weeks. If that’s the case, then I think I shall join you in your effort to habituate myself to writing a little bit every day. 🙂 Good idea!

And yeah, I always like it when a podcast features people who are good friends as well as colleagues. I like listening to people laugh and make jokes and have a good time, as opposed to just being dry and educational.

          • Ugh, that’s no fun. You should send them some feedback and suggest a different approach that might be a little less boring! 🙂

          • Aww, sad! I hate it when entertainers completely ignore feedback. (Unless it’s just troll-hate.) Feedback is precious, and ignoring your fans is just rude. Oh well. Guess that leaves more time for listening to DRS! 😉

          • Thankfully I have a day job where i can listen to my iPod as I work. I’m also undistracted by other podcasts as my pc is currently on deaths door so I’m able to catch up on back logs 🙂

          • I’m behind on a lot too, but that’s because my iPod is not hooked up to a computer to get the updates but hopefully it’ll be fixed soon 🙂
