Yesterday I started red-penning my mermaid story and realised its been quite some time since I did any red-penning at all. It’s got to be at least a year, and I can tell. I felt really rusty and couldn’t quite believe how little I’ve got done in the last year, despite having written more words than I ever have done in a calendar year.
That’s something I definitely need to work on going forward. I think I’ve kinda proved to myself that I can write relatively consistently but I’ve just got to finish things off. I wouldn’t have said I’ve given up on things, but a lot of what I’ve written this year has been on stories which I’ve written before and tried to re-write and they didn’t go well, from here on out I won’t be doing that. Aside from stories relating to the Project Apollo universe I’m not going to re-write anything that I’ve written before this years NaNoWriMo.
I think this coming year is going to be a challenging one and one where at the end of it I’m going to want to see that I’ve got some completed books done.
I’ll write a bit more of an in-depth look at this year and what I want to try to achieve next year in a post just for that.
