Howdy folks! How are we all doing this morning?

I’ve had a quiet writing weekend as I had my little one, but I did manage to get a few words written after she’d gone to bed Saturday and after I dropped her home last night. Those words were on Penal Earth 3. Yes, I haven’t finished book two yet, buuuuuut I’ve been having ideas of small segments that could fit into the story. So I’ve been writing those down while they’re in my mind. I don’t know if I’ll use them come the time I start writing it, but we’ll see.

My primary focus this week is to get two Penal Earth short stories wrapped up. I’ve got The North Side, which is available on my Ko-Fi page, so I’m not going to make big changes on that, but I need to go through it and get some details for the most recent Penal Earth short story I’ve worked on which is currently titled Kellan #2. I want to have those two with my beta reader by the end of tomorrow.

After that I’m not really sure what I’m going to be working on. I want to take a small break from Penal Earth 2. I know I’ve got to work through the notes I’ve made for the next (and final) draft, but I’m not sure if I want to do a little work on something else while I’m doing that as well. I know that once I’ve gone through those notes I’m likely going to dive into the next draft and I’m somewhat tempted to leave it a month and let it settle in my mind so it can simmer for a few weeks. But we’ll see.

One thing I’m going to work hard on is my goals for the week. I’ve got a weekly planner which I have found helps but I think I can get more out of it just by checking it each day instead of forgetting about it! My brain is a sieve of epic proportions for things like this. I think If I can get into the habit of checking it then I’m gonna stick to it better.

Right, I’m gonna get cracking with the wrangling of words. Do you set goals? Any tips on sticking to them?
