Good Morning! 25/1/26

Howdy folks, how are we all doing?

I’m a touch knackered. I mentioned the other day I had a brief trip to A&E, well that little injury has wiped me out! I tore something in my chest; just under my left pectoral muscle which caused inflammation. So I’m on antibiotics and some strong painkillers as and when I need them. I wasn’t expecting the way it’ll affect me though. I’m out of breath quicker than normal, which is bad enough as I’m out of shape. And at one point even slightly clearing my throat was a solid 8/10 on the pain threshold. I am feeling much better now, although I’m still needing pain relief at night so I can sleep and when I’ve got a physical work shift, like today. All this from chocking on a small bit of battered cod!

I will just mention the NHS, especially the Medway Maritime hospital in Gillingham, Kent, I was in there for at most five hours. In that time I was seen multiple times, including blood tests, two ECGs (or is it EKG? I always confuse them), and an x-ray. Throughout the process the staff who treated me were polite, efficient, and a bit of a laugh. Does the NHS have issues? Yeah, but at the core of this organisation are a lot of damn good people trying their best.

Now, onto writing. I’ve not done much this last week, or month to be honest. We’ve got what, a week to go? And I’d like to push hard and get to that 20 hour for the month target.

I’m frustrated with myself at the moment because I just need to get my head around doing an hour a day. That’s it. An hour. I have that to spare easily but I’m so easily distracted at the moment all it takes is

SQUIRREL!

Exactly. I need to have a harder look into ways to organise and motivate myself, and improve self-discipline. I’ve got the stories, I just need to write the damn things and not get frustrated and disillusioned when I hit a rough spot.

Right, I’m gonna stroll into work now. I do quite enjoy these pre-work blog posts when I’m sitting in my car because I’m almost always early for work!
