So, I was curious about this when I first heard about it. I wasn’t that surprised someone was going to take it how property and turn it on its head in this manner. I didn’t search it or the sequel out. Both are on Prime at the moment and I thought I’d check them out. I’ve seen a couple of these films taking recently arrived public domain work; a Popeye one that wasn’t too bad to be honest, and a Steamboat Willy one which was okay but not particularly memorable.
With the first Blood and Honey film I found it interesting, but I the novelty wore off really quickly. What interested me more was the group of women on a weekend get away to help a friend overcome a trauma. I wanted to know more about them, like why the couple were a little on edge with each other for example. How the social media junkie fit into this group. Yeah, then add in the slasher element, but I wasn’t overly bothered by the 100 Acre Wood folks.
With the second film I was somewhat intrigued by the origin story they added to it but I think I was past the novelty of Pooh, Tigger, and everyone else.
There’s a lot of these films based off IP that has recently become public domain, and I’m sure more and more will come out. I’m not sure how many I’ll be searching out.
