Book Sales!

Something I love to see on social media is writers sharing their wins. Including how many books they’ve sold that day, week, month and so on.

Keep doing this! Keep bigging yourself up! Talk up other writers, a rising tide lifts all ships. But for those of us not selling books. Not getting page reads, it’s okay. Other writers aren’t competition. Don’t get disheartened by others getting those sales. There’s a thousand and one different reasons why one book sales and another doesn’t.

Above is what my Amazon numbers have looked like for a very long time. Now, I don’t do ads, don’t have that budget. I’m too, I dunno, anxious maybe, to reach out to podcasts or book reviewers. I’ve done it a couple of times but it’s nerve racking! I’m also pretty crap at engaging on social media. I’m nervous people will think I’m bugging them or just trying to get them to buy my book. I know all those things are me problems, and I’m gonna be digging out my CBT notes because I know that will help.

Don’t get disheartened. Don’t get hung up on selling. One of the best ways to promote your work is to write the next thing. That’s what’s I’ve been doing, and I’ve got a few pieces ready to go to editors and have cover art made once I’ve got the cash for that.

Write the next story.
