I’ve been meaning to write a blog post all week, have I done it….nope. But hey ho, better late than never.
April was a good month. I wrote 23,014 words, edited 82,458; red-penned 16 A4 pages. I did that all in about 36 hours. I’m pretty happy with that. In fact I’m super happy about it. Yeah I could have done more but I’m working on picking up the consistency. In February I think it was about 17 hours for the month. It’s not empty hours either, I’m also getting a much better idea of where the faults in my tales are and ways to try and fix them. War Child is a great example; at the moment I’m quite happy with the way the edit is going but I can see what I need to change to make it feel more real. This one is still quite some way off, but I’m liking how its building.

I took a couple of hours this week to pop down to Broadstairs for a few hours. I’ve been wanting to pop down there for a few months but I’ve not had a great deal of time and a couple of times when I was close to it something cropped up. You know, life. It was good though, it’s been too long and there’s something about it down there that I love. Feels easy being there.

I’m cautiously optimistic that I can keep this pace going and hopefully improve on it but one day at a time. I am learning to look at what time I have. I’ll look at what work shifts I’ve got, family time, and then try and maximise the time to write around that. I have noticed that I struggle to write for more than three hours at a time. I think that will improve the more I do it. I also struggle to sit at the desk and write much after midday. I’m not sure why, but knowing that I try and get up at a decent time (on days off) and get that time in nice and early. The same if I have a mid or evening shift. Just this little forward planning is helping a treat.
Right, I’m gonna wrap it there. I hope everyone is having an awesome weekend!
