I hit a bit of a road block on Tuesday. I felt I wasn’t writing in any real direction and I decided to take a break from all writing for a few days. I felt like I’d hit a bit of a wall and when I’d got to that point in the past I’d force myself to sit and write and not get anything done. So I took a few days off and wrote 1116 words, and the story its on just doesn’t work! This is the first story in a tied in anthology and its got to be right. It’s got to get the book off to a good start, gripping but I’m not feeling it. I’m going to think on it and try and plot out what I need to do to make it work.
I did (finally) get the zombie collection read through. I’m pretty happy with it. I’ve got to make the minor changes that I’ve found. I’ll try and get worked through those next week and see about getting it off to beta readers.
I am resigning myself to the fact that I am not going to be getting stuck into a first draft for a while. Even with a project I’ve got that will technically be a new book, I’ll be mining a lot of material that was cut from another book (this book is a sequel). This year is going to be an editing one for the whole. I’ve got pieces that I wrote during NaNo that I’ll be expanding on but it does feel like I’m going to be working on a lot of pieces that I’ve started but not finished. Resisting the urge to start on new pieces is going to be hard.
Right, I’m wrapping it there. Have a good one, folks 🙂
