Good Morning! 28/8/24

Howdy folks! How are we all doing?

I’ve not made much progress writing this last few weeks. I’ve written, even if it’s just a few words, most days but haven’t quite got to where I want to be.

I did go and see the new The Crow the other day. Although I wouldn’t have said I’m a mega fan of the original it is a film that is still a solid favourite, maybe top twenty for me. This new one, I don’t get what they were hoping for. Firstly, they didn’t have to re-do the Eric/Shelly characters. The production could have said itself a lot of online hate if they’d made it a continuation of The Crow mythos. This remake didn’t have the weight to it that the original had. So much time was spent on the love story which left just the bare essential for the antagonist. Someone on Facebook (sorry I forget who) made the point that in the original the villains were all fleshed out characters. They had their differences and were memorable. We didn’t get this in this film. There are good elements, some of the kills are awesome, and the opera house sequence is pretty good. But it runs out of steam there, after that the emotional payoff doesn’t sit right and quite honestly after the opera house I was board.

It just didn’t stand out from the original. There was no need to do this remake. Why not do that continuation of the mythos. There have been four The Crow films before this one, So why not have original characters? This film, felt by the numbers.

I will just add I appreciate that a lot of people worked bloody hard in this movie and although what they saw this movie being didn’t hit the spot for me, their work should still be respected and appreciated.

As I write this I’m in the car park at work, I start in about 35 minutes and I’m looking forward to getting stuck in. Even though I had a half decent nights sleep I’m knackered! I’ve been trying to change my sleep pattern for months now and haven’t been able to, but it’s something I’m working on. The big thing I need to do is get consistent when putting my head down to sleep. I don’t turn off very well and that’s something that I’m working on.

Right, I should think about getting in and ready for the shift. I know this post has been random and likely somewhat rambling at times. I’m just gonna blame the sleepy deprivation.
