Good Evening – 21/11/24

Good evening folks, how are we all doing tonight?

I’ve just finished eight days in a row at work and am looking forward to a long weekend off. I’ve not written much since my last post, wit was that yesterday? See, I’m writing this at just gone twenty past ten at night and I should have done it two hours ago! But I’ve carried on with more of the prep work for the second draft of a story I’ll be looking to work on early next year. I was at work and a detail popped into my head that could tie a few things together. A colleague said I looked demented or something! So the pieces of that one are coming together.

Last night I watched a movie called Jailbird. It was okay, nothing to memorable overall. It’s about a older teen girl who accidentally kills her step-dad as he’s trying to abuse her. She gets convicted of his death and sent to prison. It’s based on a comic I believe but not one I’m familiar with so I’m not sure how loyal an adaptation it is. But there’s a lot of nudity, within a couple of days of being in prison she’s had sex with other inmates, and abused by the warden. Along with making enemies and allies, who become enemies and she has a descent that’s quite well done. I was hit and miss with this movie, and I think the thing that kind of knocked it towards a negative feeling was a scene where a character ends up with a Hannibal Lecter mask on her. This wasn’t needed, it was overkill for the character and felt like it was just there because its a cliche. I had a loud verbal reaction to this, and I almost stopped watching it at that moment. There’s a couple of other moments which caused an eye-roll or two, but something I always tell myself is this was something a group of people came together and put their heart and souls into, and it’s not too bad. My main critique is we didn’t need some of the cliches.

I am almost finished The Hidden Truth audiobook, and I’m really enjoying it and curious how Rosamilia and Wilburn will wrap it up. Its Armand Rosamilia’s birthday by the way, if you haven’t checked him out I’d recommend doing so. He’s a great writer and more importantly a fantastic human being.

Just popping this short of my story, Serial Pensioner, that the amazing Leah Solmaz created. Please give it a watch, Leah did a beautiful job with this and I’m so happy with what she put together.

And I’m just going to post the link to my book Penal Earth here. Please check it out and consider purchasing it. I’m very proud of this book and I’m working on the next book in the series as well as a short story for this world.

Right folks, I’ve got a busy day tomorrow so I’m going to get me head down, watch this movie and then get some sleep.

Have an awesome evening, folks!
