Howdy folks, how are we all doing today? I’ve just got to work, feeling somewhat bleary-eyed but not too bad overall. I’ve got a short shift and then meeting a friend, which I’m looking forward to.

Yesterday I wrote for about an hour on mech but can’t remember how many words I wrangled. I did it in about an hour though. At 3am. I’d struggled to nod off, this heat is a little too much for me, but the. I woke about 2am. This isn’t far off my normal wake up time on a work day. After tossing and turning I gave up and fired up the desktop. After a slow start I got stuck in and that hour was pretty productive, although I dread to think what the quality is like seeing as I was beginning to nod off the longer the hour passed.

(I’ve just walked into work to realise I’ve got here an hour earlier than I had to 🤦‍♂️, so I’m gonna do some writing work.)

Once I had done an hour, I went back to bed. I had about four hours sleep before getting up, having breakfast and then doing some pond maintenance. After that I had a low impact day. The heat was oppressive so I didn’t fancy doing anything that was heavy with exertion.

I think I could have got stuck into Mech and got through till the end. I’ve only got, maybe a dozen pages to go, but I’m glad I didn’t. As I was laying in bed trying to sleep I realised that I’ll likely want to rewrite the ending to give it more Pop! And if I’d pushed through I might have rushed it and complicated the next round of edits.

Now that I’m this close to wrapping this draft up I’ll have to start thinking about the next Penal Earth 2 pass. This should be my last pass before sending it to a beta reader. I’ll be glad to get this one done and ready for editing when I have the funds.

Right, I feel like I’m beginning to ramble, so I’m gonna wrap here and get back to brainstorming Lovers.
