NaNoWriMo: Day 6

Today is the second day that I haven’t passed the 2k word mark, which is a little disappointing and I’m really hoping I’m not loosing my momentum here. I need to remember though that this is the middle part of the week, and I work a full-time job. So my average is going to drop a little. That said my average is still almost 2600 words a day and I can’t be grumbling about that.

On a positive note I am actually enjoying my writing again now. After what felt like a couple of years where I wasn’t really enjoying writing and I was questioning whether I could string words together I feel like I’m back on track now. I’m even feeling happier in myself as well, it’s feeling really good being this pro-active at the moment and I’m going to try my best to keep it going after NaNo ends.
I’m going to look at next year and plan out what I’m working on throughout the year and set myself a few targets on various projects.

So, with my 1759 words today I’ve gotten to just over 15,500 words written in six days. I’ve got thirteen plot points left on my outline, which I’m hoping will give me another 35,000 words worth of story but we’ll have to wait and see how it goes.

  1. I understand how you feel. I’m a stay at home mom and work as an editor part time and it’s hard to find time to write. I’m far behind where I need to be in NaNo but writing whatever I can every day will at least set up a good habit. I used to be where you are wondering if writing was really my talent and several times said “I quit”, but I never could. Story lines and ideas continued to come and the desire to write never went away. So happy to hear you are feeling good about writing again! My best to you in this endeavor. 🙂

    • I’ve never come close to quitting, partly because I’ve got two people that I’m working with on different projects but also because I couldn’t stop writing. If I go more then a few days without writing then I start getting bad tempered and twitchy.
I’m glad you’ve managed to keep going with your writing as well 🙂
