Howdy folks! How are we all doing today?

I didn’t write yesterday, when I got to work first thing I went to top up my washer fluid and saw something under the bonnet that isn’t right. So I spent my break speaking to the lads I used to work with and will be dropping my car off to be looked at next week. In the meantime a family member has lent me a car. It’s a twenty year old Corsa, 1.2ltr petrol. (My car is a fifteen year old Mondeo 2.0ltr diesel. So lots of differences and the drive home yesterday showed just how used to my car I am. I got up this morning, in the Corsa and off I went. I’ve got the gear changes down, the way the car accelerates, how the breaking and steering is. Where the biting point takes.

What has been in my mind is how I used to just jump from car to car without a second thought. In the car trade it was something you had to be able to do; go from one car to another and immediately adjust to it. I’ve been away from that world for five years now and I hadn’t really thought about that aspect of it until yesterday. I’m real happy that I hopped into the Corsa this morning and I haven’t gone to push the start button, or tried to find 6th gear.

I think I’m gonna enjoy this little change if I’m honest. And, I haven’t had a moment where I’ve felt frustrated or stressed over my car, it could be an expensive fix, or it could be fatal, but I haven’t felt pissed off or hopeless, or annoyed. The CBT course I’ve just finished has had a positive impact on me, and damn it’s nice not stressing over something that just a few months ago would have all but incapacitated me mentally.

As I said, no writing yesterday as I was sorting that out. I’ll do a little on my break today, and then be a little more back on it from tomorrow.
