Good morning, folks! How are we all doing today?
We are in the middle of a heatwave here in the UK, so obviously we’re moving about it being too hot! Me included! But, I do so with tongue firmly in cheek. Anything over about 25 degrees and I struggle a little, but it’s also the weather and there is nothing we can do about it.
How has this affected my writing? It hasn’t. My writing output this month has been somewhat shite regardless of the weather. My mental health has been a bit crap this last month or so. (I’m okay, I’ll be having a chat with my doctor in regards to it soon).
My great-aunt Mary died a couple of weeks ago. It was unexpected, and it’s knocked the energy out of us all. She was my unofficial godmother, I jokingly use to refer to her as ‘The Godmother’ in the sort of Vito Corleone manner. Her and my late great-uncle Alan would have been mine and my brothers guardians when we were young if anything had happened to our parents. She was one of the best, and she’s going to be very missed.

I have been trying to write through it, but it’s been quite hit and miss. I’m getting back on track though. Part of the problem is I’ve hit a rough spot in War Child that needs to be in there, but it’s not feeling right at the moment. I think I’ll likely end up writing the section despite my doubts, but then rewrite it at a later date to get it where I know it needs to be. This story is proving difficult, as I’ve known it would be. I’ve got this big story in my head, and I’m still not sure I’m ready for it as a writer, but sometimes we have to take a leap and hope to nail the landing.
I have had a story published. It’s in the Cauldron of Chaos magazine and you can find it on Godless here. I believe it will be on Amazon soon.
My writing goals have really stuttered recently, but I’m trying to get back on track.
Peter, I snagged a copy of Cauldron of Chaos and read your story. It’s a fun story and made me feel claustrophobic. Nice job!
Sorry to hear about your great aunt. May she rest in peace.
